Today was spent w/ another new friend, Elissa, who generously offered to drive me around Brisbane to show me some of the sights. We went to the Gallery of Modern Art which is located on South Bank, across the river from where I'm staying, where we took in a really extensive exhibit of the artist Andy Warhol, which was very interesting. I find a lot of his portrait stuff facinating, but then there's some of his other works that you look at & just wonder how it could be considered art, but it's all interesting just the same.
After that, we walked along a path which led to other galleries & museums, saw quite a few native birds & some water dragons which were really neat, there was one particular one that was really big, bigger than the other ones; then stopped to have a bite to eat. After that, Elissa took me to a look out area atop the Mt Coot-tha mountain; despite the fact that it was still partially cloudy & still looking like it's going to rain, even though it hasn't yet, the views from the top were fantastic, & I did manage to get some great pictures of of views of Brisbane city & beyond & with a little help from Photo Shop when I get home I should be able to make them stand out a bit. After that, Elissa drove me through the Botanical gardens, where we got out to have a bit of a walk & look around. The gardens are really beautiful, with lots of great, green plants & trees & my new favorite flowers, the Frangipani trees that have the beautiful, fragrant blooms on them. Those are the types of flowers that they make Hawaiian leis out of. After that, it was time to part ways but there is a chance that we will have another visit early next week before I head off for Sydney.
Tomorrow, possibly another meet up w/ another new friend. I'll let you know what happens then. For now, I'm off in search of a bite to eat. Bye for now,
Lisa xo
