Things have been moving along very fast in the last couple of days, I can't believe I've got around 7-8 days left before I come home - I seriously wish I could bring this nice hot weather home with me to share with all of you, it's been absolutely perfect!
A few days ago, after the awesome bridge climb, the next day in fact, I went back to Circular Quay & explored around there; I took some great pictures of the Opera house up close, it's really facinating to see live & in person, although I think Australia has something about steps, because there are a lot (more) of steps to get up to the main door of the opera house itself. I didn't actually take a tour of the inside of the place, it was a bit pricey, so I was content just to walk around outside. From there, I walked back over to the harbour bridge, because on the day we did our bridge climb, we were given coupons for after, to walk 200 steps up to the top of the concrete "pillons" that adorn the bridge. Derek wasn't going to be around to do it, so I went & did it; after stopping a couple of times to get my breath, because it's pretty warm in the stairwell, I finally made it to the top & was again greeted with really great views in all directions & a really nice cooling breeze. While it's not as high a view as the top of the bridge, it's still a really nice elevation.
So yesterday I decided I was going to take the ferry out to Taronga Zoo; I have to tell you all, I really love ferrys, they're such a fantastic mode of transportation, mind you, it's really nice of course to have a beautiful harbour to go sailing around in. The ride over was only about 12 minutes, which wasn't bad, when I got there, you had to go into a gondola up the side of the mountain to get to the main entrance. Now again, I only spent a few hours at the zoo, so I don't think I ended up seeing everything, however, I did see a few really cool animals, such as giraffes, wallabees, koalas again, huge seals, crocs, birds & elephants again, which was really exciting because two of them were splashing around keeping cool in their own personal lake!
Once I got back to Circular Quay again, I took another ferry back to Darling Harbour & decided to go back to the aquarium again, because I was dying to go see the huge fish tank again. Seeing the huge sharks & stingrays just facinates me beyond description & I stood watching them all for the longest time.
Today I decided that I was going to go off to Manly beach today & it was well worth the trip; the trip there & back only took about 30 minutes each way. I have to say, that I think Australians have to be the luckiest people in the world to be able to have the views that they do of the harbour & the open ocean, because again, as I sat down on the beach staring out into the great blue, it had to be the most calming thing ever, it's really just amazing to have the wind blowing in your hair & smelling the salt air. I seriously think that I need to grow old by an ocean somewhere. I'd be the little old woman doing "the stoop" looking for sea shells - I did find a couple today by the way. Tonight, I'll be meeting up with another friend, Karen & her boyfriend for dinner, we'll be going somewhere near the Opera house, so that'll make a really nice evening.
Tomorrow, I may either go back to Manly, or look into going out to Bondi, at this point, I can't get enough of the beach, warm sun/breezes & semi - warm water lapping at my toes.

Lisa - You're killing me here with all this talk of warm breezes and water lapping at your toes... Especially as we gear up for yet another dumping of snow! Seriously, couldn't you squeeze in some of that warmth and sunshine in your suitcase to bring back to Ontario ;-) I agree with loving looking out over the water. It's why I love living within walking distance of Lake Ontario (okay, not especially glamourous but it's the best I've got!). There is something so serene and calming about watching water.
Hugs!
